To help with the writing, here's a quick summary of the characters so far. Feel free to add character traits - and new characters - as the story develops.
The girl
No name yet. Separated from her partner, Tim for 2 years. Has just given up her job and is embarking on a new chapter in her life. Footloose and fancy free with no ties, the girl is heading for Spain to start again. She has been intrigued by a stranger in the town she's just left but has never spoken to him.
The guy
No first name yet, but family name of Martinez. He's been living in the girl's town for probably around 5 years and seems to have been working in a library. He is from a wealthy Spanish family and is the eldest son. At the start of the story he discovers his mother has just died. His father died 10 years ago. Family relationships are not good. His mother wanted him to follow her rules and drove him apart from his, then, love Carmen. He left the family business at that point and struck out on his own. He has one brother.
The brother
No first name yet. Younger son of Olivia Martinez and brother of 'the guy'. He has been running the family firm since his brother left 5 years ago and is none too happy that his big brother is returning home.
Olivia Martinez
Mother of the guy and his younger brother. Seems to have been a fairly ruthless and cold society beauty. Recently died. Disapproved of her eldest son's relationship with Carmen and set about splitting them up, successfully.
Tim
One time partner of 'the girl'. Not much known about him but seems to have had problems committing to the relationship in an equal way. Not clear whether he and the girl have kept in touch.
Carmen
One time love of 'the guy'. Disapproved of by his mother and accepted money to break off her relationship with him. Seems somewhat shallow! Described as a 'lithe limbed, sunkissed beauty'.
